Former President Gustavo Petro and former Bogotá Mayor Claudia Lopez, previously fierce opponents, met to form an alliance for the upcoming mayoral and gubernatorial elections. At the nuam-Asobolsa regional capital markets congress on September 11, Shenny González, president of the Colombian brokerage association Asobolsa, proposed three pillars to deepen the sector: long-term public policy, regulatory equivalence, and financial education focused on strengthening investor trust.
The Servicio Geológico Colombiano (SGC) reported a magnitude 4.5 earthquake on September 11 at 11:42 a.m. local time at a depth of 41 kilometers, with its epicenter in Istmina, Chocó. The SGC said that as of September 12 it operates 339 seismic stations across Colombia, including 206 stations covering the national seismic network and 133 stations installed at active Colombian volcanoes.
